The extent of 1970’s housing stock in Melbourne suburbia is vast. The renovation was a deliberate case study into how such building stock could be refurbished and repurposed to meet current day living standards. Intentionally compact in its scale, the extension component of just 11sqm of internal floor area, dramatically improved the liveability of the house. Barely recognisable from its earlier life, the house takes on principles inherent to the architect owner’s design ethos for greater plan clarity and light filled spaces.
